The Greek character
※考§ (Sigma) is used as standard deviation
in Math. And the ※Six sigma§ (6考) management
means a index to know how big is our
deviation to target and a process to
help us to improve our process performance
to a perfect status.The core-philosophy
of six sigma is that if you can measure
how many defects in your process, then
you can find a way to remove them and
be almost of ※Zero defect§.
On later
1990, Motorola start to implement Six
sigma to improve the quality of their
production line and achieve excellent
result. And this make Motorola as the
winner of first McBridge award. After
Motorola, Jack Welch, CEO of GE decide
to launch Six sigma into their process
quality as monitor index and achieve
tremendous improvement on quality and
financial result. Beside GE, many WW
companies launch six sigma into their
business and get similar results like
Motorola and GE. In mainland China,
six sigma is first introduced in 1996
and be familiar by people from later
2001. Mr. Qiu, the six sigma director
of笢倓籵捅believe that ※We need to find
a way to help us to keep exist in market
to compete with our competitors and
continuous growing and Six sigma is
what we need today§
Most companies
in the world only perform their quality
with 5 or 5.5 sigma level 每 this means

of Six sigma in China |

Before
six sigma is introduced and is launched
in your company, there are many preparations
required to support the success of six
sigma implementation. For most WW companies
have implemented many improvement activities
before they launch six sigma. These
activities include goal management,
human management and process improvement...etc.
And their core-process is identified.
Six sigma plays the role of enhancement
to their existed improvement activities.For
many companies in mainland China, they
are 20 to 30 year old and not many experiences
in improvements activities before they
implement six sigma. So they need spend
more attention on their current business
process, management level and data-oriented
system before formal implement the six
sigma in their organization.
Many consulting
company and some business treat six
sigma as a statistic knowledge training
only and miss to take care of the foundation
required to support the six sigma implementation.
This will result that the pre-set goals
can not achieved and loss your time
and money.

sigma is a customer-oriented, data-based
culture change, to make commitment and
fully support it＊s implementation is
very critical issue. If we plan to have
six sigma be well implemented and executed
in China business, the first challenge
is the conflict with our current culture:
six sigma will impact our thinking,
change the human management to system
management, change our experience based
decision to science based decision,
change our habit that no data to data-based
decision.. etc. This is a continuous
changing, step by step＃
Six sigma focus
on the application of science, statistic
and customer-oriented 每 and this help
us to make our existing culture be more
powerful and better to serve our customer
in a new and effective way.
Traditional
company management is vertical line
management. But today, to compete in
current market and be survive, current
company is changing their organization
to process style, matrix functional
management. Six sigma start to fill
in the fresh energy to China business
culture and make it be more powerful
than yesterday.
